When you feel overwhelmed

“When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the Rock that is higher than 1” – Psalm 61:2

Life does not always work out the way we dreamed it would, it throws curves at us when we least expect it. That dream job comes with an insufferable boss who is never pleased no matter what. The soft-spoken beautiful girl you married just never stops talking about everything you’re doing wrong. Your handsome and charming boyfriend has turned into a surly and moody husband who never seems to have anything good to say to you. Yes, life can come with its thorns.

What does the Bible tell us to do at moments like this? Is there any comfort when all of life has gone topsyturvy?

“Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares for you” – 1 Peter 5:7

We clearly need our Saviour to help us at such moments. Trust me, you really can’t handle this all by yourself and this once again reminds us of why we needed a Saviour in the first place.

– Seek Him in prayer.
– Bow before Him in worship.
– Pray in the Spirit because we sometimes just cannot find the words.

Find strength in your Maker, that is the only source of continuous comfort and strength.

“Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10

“My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.” Psalm 62:1-2
God bless you.
