What’s your motive?

“Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way.”
Colossians 3:17 MSG

In the early days of my career, I worked really hard at my work because of the passion I had for the job. My motives were simple, I wanted to be the very best at what I was doing. I devoured books, worked very hard and asked my supervisors and peers endless questions to achieve this.

My motives determined my actions.

God wants to work on our motives for doing all that we do. Our focus verse today shows us that God wants the reason we do everything should be Jesus. When we get ‘why’ we are doing things, God would guide you to ‘what’ you should be doing.

Are you in a dead end job? Do it with love in your heart as if Jesus is your boss. Is that marriage getting frustrating? Serve your spouse like he/she is Jesus! I have learnt from experience that when you make Jesus the reason you do everything, He would order your steps to what He wants you to be doing.

“With every step you take, think about what He wants, and He will help you go the right way.”
Proverbs 3:6 ERV

God bless you.
