No risk of failure

April 30, 2018 by Yemisi Vese 1 Comment

There is a risk attached to every investment made and to all decisions made by humans. This is the risk of failure! As fallible humans, this is a very real reality.

“I am standing in absolute stillness, silent before the one I love, waiting as long as it takes for him to rescue me. Only God is my Savior, and he will not fail me. For he alone is my safe place. His wrap-around presence always protects me as my champion defender. There’s no risk of failure with God! So why would I let worry paralyze me, even when troubles multiply around me? God’s glory is all around me! His wrap-around presence is all I need, for the Lord is my Savior, my hero, and my life-giving strength. Join me, everyone! Trust only in God every moment! Tell him all your troubles and pour out your heart-longings to him. Believe me when I tell you—he will help you!”
Psalms 62:5‭-‬8 The Passion Translation

These verses are a huge source of comfort for me, I have even highlighted the sentences that speak so clearly to me.

Do you have other saviours apart from God?

Are you trusting in that uncle or boss?

Do you believe your intelligence is your passport through life?

It is only in absolute abandonment to God that your success is guaranteed. Is He your only safe place or you believe your answer is in you getting married or getting that job or starting that business?

Do not be deceived, the only safe place for you as a believer is in God. You know why, that is the only place where there is no risk of failure!

My exhortation to you today is to run to Him. Seek to spend time in His Presence always and to develop a deep and abiding love relationship with the Father. This is where all the answers of your heart lie.

The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous runs to it and is safe and set on high [far above evil].
Proverbs 18:10 AMP

Are you ready to make God your safe place? Share with me and let us renew our commitment to run to God together TODAY!

No “buts”

March 16, 2018 by Yemisi Vese Leave a Comment

I have been meditating on the goodness of God over the last few weeks and I’ve been amazed at what I have found.

“But Lord, your endless love stretches from one eternity to the other, unbroken and unrelenting toward those who fear you and those who bow facedown in awe before you. Your faithfulness to keep every gracious promise you’ve made passes from parents, to children, to grandchildren, and beyond.”
Psalms 103:17 TPT

“You are the one and only God. What miracles! What wonders! What greatness belongs to you!”
Psalms 86:10 TPT

For the Lord is always good and ready to receive you. He’s so loving that it will amaze you— so kind that it will astound you! And he is famous for his faithfulness toward all. Everyone knows our God can be trusted, for he keeps his promises to every generation! Psalms 100:5 TPT

There are no “buts” to His goodness.

For example, when people say God is good but He is punishing me for all I’ve done wrong or saying God is punishing a country or town with terrorist attacks. That is SO NOT God. I want to repeat again, there is no “but” to God’s goodness. He is innately good and nothing removes from it.

“Everything You do is beautiful, flowing from Your goodness” Psalm 119:68

Where have you put a “but” in your life?
Evil in any shape or form is from the devil and not God (John 10:10). As long as there is a “but” in your faith in His goodness, your faith won’t work. The devil lies to us and encourages us to believe in “buts”, that is, he is giving us alternatives to His goodness. Once we buy that lie, we operate beneath God’s plans and purposes for us.

Today, I am encouraging you to just declare His goodness according to scripture and debunk every lie the enemy has been feeding to you.
Declare His goodness and faithfulness over that infertility.
Declare His goodness over that lack of finances.
Declare His goodness over that rebellious child.
Declare His goodness over that marriage.
Choose to believe only His goodness and give no place for the devil’s “buts” and watch your faith work for you!
God is always good!!

My marriage broke me….for Jesus!

August 8, 2017 by Yemisi Vese 7 Comments

My wedding day was such a beautiful day! I saw everything that day through a beautiful lens and there were no shadows or clouds over it. My husband and I had a small civil ceremony with just our family and closest friends. I had met my husband at the leading of the Holy Spirit and I thought all would go perfectly for the rest of our days just because God brought me to my marriage. I was so wrong.

Barely a month into my marriage, the battles started. It began with a misunderstanding regarding a loan I had taken before the wedding and spiraled out of control. The issues started overlapping at that point until it reached a climax about a year and a half into our marriage. I felt like I was in a whirlpool that I could not crawl out of regardless of what I did. We quarreled about everything and anything, name it, we argued about it. The tension in my home was so thick most of the time, you could cut it with a knife. Truly, the devil always fights us even when you are in the middle of God’s will for you. He is a defeated foe who never stops trying to get us to miss our way.

For those difficult years, I thought my husband was the enemy and I fought him that way while expecting him to change. Well, he never did change because he was just like me, fallible and prone to mistakes. What made us cross from pain to joy? From a marriage filled with tears to laughter? It did not happen by me continuing to fight the way I knew how, I learnt to fight the way God ordained us to.

““Stop your fighting — and know that I am God, exalted among the nations, exalted on the earth.”” Psalms 46:10 (HCSB)

I cried to God and asked for His help. My marriage was crumbling around me and I had no idea how to save it. My journey began with God revealing who He is to me. Let me share this with you:

  • God is good, always – He taught me and showed me His goodness. I started studying about this from the Word and found a lot of bible verses. He then took me through a journey through the seasons of my life in the past that He had revealed His goodness to me. He then sent people to me to remind me of Himself and also to counsel me in the right path. God is always good!

“The LORD is good to everyone. He showers compassion on all his creation.” Psalms 145:9 (NLT)

I understood that God makes all my circumstances work together for good and even all the disappointments I was having in my marriage would all work out for good. I can tell you now that all has worked out for my good!

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Romans 8:28

  • God is love – His love for me overwhelmed me during this time. In all our issues and constant fight, while licking my wounds from the arguments, I would feel His love for me like a presence. He would send words of encouragement through friends to me at just the right time. He saw the cry of my heart and answered with His love. I was not getting a lot of love from my husband but God started showing me His love.

These revelations changed the trajectory of my life completely. I just knew then that the atmosphere in my marriage was not God’s original plan and I needed to fight it God’s way. Constant bickering and pain was clearly from our flesh and from demonic voices intent on destroying the work God has planned for our marriage.

What is God’s way? Learning to rest and trust in Him to bring His good plans for me and my marriage to pass. My next question to God was, how do I learn to trust? How can I rest? How can I possibly win with not doing anything at all? (that was how I understood it).

I share more on resting in God here and here

God led me through the following steps after I learnt to understand His nature of love and goodness:

  1. Listening for and following the leading of the Holy Spirit – I started cultivating the presence of the Holy Spirit in my life and listening for His voice. “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” John 10:27 (NKJV)
  2. Doing the hard things, loving my husband through all the pain(even when i did not feel like) – I just learnt the language of love according to the Word of God and lived it by the Holy Spirit. I remember showing him love in response to unkindness just because the Holy Spirit reminded me of my pledge to obey and do whatever the Word says. Having to cook dinner for my husband on days when all I wanted to do was to pour the food on his head or having to go kiss him after terrible arguments. I did a lot of this with tears in my eyes but I learnt obedience in those things.

“Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.” 1 Corinthians 13:7

  1. Holding on to the promise of God regarding prayer – “I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.” Mark 11:24 (NLT)

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”Philippians 4:6-7

  1. Taking authority over the devil and taking negative thoughts captive concerning my marriage – The day I realised that the devil’s plan was to keep me and my husband in constant arguments that will prevent us from seeing and acting on God’s purpose for my life, I got mad! Really mad like the character of Priscilla Shirer in The War Room movie. Trust me, I stood on the Word and told the devil where to go!

“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Luke 10:19 (NKJV)

I silenced every negative thought concerning my marriage and took it captive for Jesus!

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,” II Corinthians 10:4-5

  1. Replaced negative thoughts with the promises of God and positive confessions. “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Philippians 4:8

As I practised these things over time, I started changing. I responded to arguments with a smile, a kiss and my husband’s favourite meal. My tears dried up and joy was the language of my soul. What had I done? I invited God’s presence into my family and this brought with it joy and peace.

I invited God’s presence into my family and this brought with it joy and peace.

My story became what the Psalmist said:

“You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalms 16:11 (NKJV)

I live a life of deep love and joy in my marriage today and it is all because the Holy Spirit led me through the journey I have listed above. He led me to set aside my wishes and desires for His direction and love; the fruits of that obedience is what I am enjoying today! My home is so full of love and joy, it is unreal. An important point to remember is that the steps listed are a continuous thing and you should never rest on your oars. I am certain you would experience victory like I have!

Are you struggling with strife in any area of your life? Are you tired of constant bickering in your marriage without an end in sight? Have you found peace and joy in your marriage? I would love to hear your story! Please share in the comments below or contact me here.

Ask big! You are not a slave.

“Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain.” And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested.”
I Chronicles 4:9‭-‬10 NKJV

Jabez was born in pain and his name  signified that pain. Everytime someone called his name, his origin was reinforced as a source of pain and sorrow. I’m certain this must have marked him and affected everything he did. One day, he got fed up and asked God for a big change. Guess what? God granted him that request.

Imagine this scenario instead: Jabez asking God to make his pain more comfortable and people should go easy on him. Do you know that’s what he would have got? More comfort but the pain would still be there.

Most of us ask God for things like slaves and not sons! We ask God to ease our pain instead of daring to ask Him not just to remove the pain and sorrow but to enlarge us beyond human understanding and make us the one that eases the pain of others. We are just too afraid to ask God!

Ask God today for the seemingly impossible to do things for His glory

. Don’t be deterred by what people or the devil are saying. God wants us to place a demand on His unending power!

“I am the Lord your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt; Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.”
Psalms 81:10 NKJV

God bless you.

Take off the limits.

April 25, 2017 by Yemisi Vese Leave a Comment

“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” Ephesians 3:20

If there was no hindrance or obstacle in your way, what would you like to do to make a difference on this earth? If God gave you supernatural ability and there was no limit to what you could achieve, what would you do? Do you know the power that is available to you through the power of the Holy Spirit? I love the way The Message Bible puts it in Ephesians 3:20:

“God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.”

The limits on the manifestation of greatness in your life is in you. The Holy Spirit is the One that works within you to change the way you’re thinking and letting the power of God manifest from your life. How do you tap into this? How do you harness this great power for your use? One way to do that is via a relationship with the Holy Spirit. Jesus left us with the Holy Spirit to teach us and help us with everything we require.
“But you are not like that, for the Holy One has given you his Spirit, and all of you know the truth. But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.”
1 John 2:20,27 (NLT)
Remember, stay in fellowship with Jesus. Do not let anything disrupt your relationship with the Holy Spirit. Guard it and stay in constant communion and watch as your life takes off in the direction of God’s promises. The Holy Spirit reveals to us the things that are in secret that God has planned for us. Without His help, we would be running around in circles without the right direction.

Impossible into reality

April 22, 2017 by Yemisi Vese Leave a Comment

Impossible
adjective
1. not possible; unable to be, exist, happen, etc.
2. unable to be done, performed, effected, etc

Impossible is when you are 90years old and infertile.
Impossible is when the Red Sea is in front of you and the Egyptians are behind you.
Impossible is when you are given a land inhabited by giants; and to claim it, you have to chase them out (You are not a giant by the way!).
Impossible is when you have just five loaves of bread and two fishes to feed 5 thousand people.
“For with God nothing will be impossible.”  Luke 1:37
Get the picture now? Impossible scenarios. The human mind cannot conceive of solutions to those kind of issues. However, if you attended Sunday school, I’m certain you know these are all bible stories that ended very differently from the expectations of those involved. The questions is, Who turned all these impossible scenarios around? God.
“Impossible is nothing where God is concerned”.

Do you know God is still in the business of turning impossibilities into realities?
Impossible turning to reality is when you had your womb removed after a botched abortion and now, you have three kids you carried and gave birth to YOURSELF!

Impossible turning to reality is when you move from broke and depressed to becoming a BOSS in a position you were not qualified for but you now excel in.

I am encouraged that I serve a God who specialises in turning around impossible situations for His children and I firmly believe that your case and mine would not be different.
“‘Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You.”
Jeremiah 32:17

Open up to Him

April 20, 2017 by Yemisi Vese Leave a Comment

Trust God.

I learnt to trust God at a time when i really did not have a choice. A single mother doing odd jobs to provide for my daughter and myself; the needs were daily and i did not have any way out except to trust God.

“When God is all you have, you have all you need”.

Click To Tweet

God taught me to depend on Him for my daily provision and my goodness, He met it every single time. I understood through my experiences that the Word of God is not just a piece of paper but alive and active! This has helped me to develop a faith regarding provision that is almost unshakeable, i just always know that God is my Provider and not my job or any human being.

“The Lord is my Shepherd; there is nothing i lack” – Psalm 23:1 (HCSB)

His desire is that we depend on Him for everything and not on what we think we can do or who we know. Trusting in a human being or in your personal talents are a waste of time and can fail at any time. God is the Creator of everything and the deepest knowledge has its origin in Him; no one can honour your trust like HIM.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding”. – Proverbs 3:5
Prayer Confession: Lord, i know i have been trying to do it all by myself and not doing a very good job of it. Please help me to trust in You for my daily needs and for every step i take in life. Thank you Lord in Jesus name.

Jesus, our roadmap.

April 19, 2017 by Yemisi Vese Leave a Comment

Road map
noun: roadmap

“a plan or strategy intended to achieve a particular goal.”

I had plans, big and ambitious plans when i started my career in banking. Plans to rise to Director level, run a bank someday, get my promotion regularly and a lot of other plans. My plans were big and achievable except for one thing, i forgot Who my real strategy is. These are good plans and can be God’s purpose for some people but it wasn’t His plan for me. I never asked Jesus. How many of you are making all the plans today and forgetting about the real WAY?
“You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail”. Proverbs 19:21 (NLT)

The journey of my life has brought me full circle back to the only real WAY. Jesus took me through and showed me that only a consistent and daily CHOICE to obey and follow Him is what leads you to the right roadmap for your life. Are you afraid of trusting God? Do you want to know the entire plan for your life from beginning to the end? Well, sorry to burst your bubble, you’re human and you just can’t know it all.

Trust the One who knows the very end from the beginning.

The God who created everything and can make it all work together for your good is waiting for you to trust Him today. Do it, trust HIM!
“Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.” Psalm 9:10 (NIV)
